Corin was founded in 1985, based in Cirencester in the heart of the Cotswolds in South West England. The company was named after “Corinium”, the early name for Cirencester, an historic Roman town mentioned in scripts as far back as AD 150, and now known as the “Capital of the Cotswolds”.

The company’s early philosophy was clear: a British company, providing high quality implants at a competitive price, with outstanding service to its Customers.

For many years Corin was the UK market leader for hemi-arthroplasty devices, and in its first few years the company introduced a number of successful total hip replacement and knee systems, including early unicondylar and patello-femoral replacements.

From the late 1980’s, Corin became more involved in the development and pioneering of innovative orthopaedic devices, and has been associated with some of the most important developments in orthopaedic implant technology in the last 20 years.

From true mobile bearing knees to the pioneering work done on modern metal-on-metal hip resurfacing and total hip replacement, the company now has a reputation for innovative technology aimed at restoring quality of life to the younger, active patient.

The company also developed its worldwide coverage by the establishment of subsidiaries in key markets around the world – a direct sales operation that now covers around 80% of the global orthopaedic market – as well as distributors in other key countries, making Corin a truly global enterprise.

The beginning of the 21st century has seen Corin come of age as a true world power in orthopaedics. The business has been successfully floated on the London Stock Exchange, and has increased its position in Europe with the acquisition of Alphanorm, a German orthopaedic company with complimentary products and an established presence in central European markets.

Today, Corin is a world leader in the production of a wide range of orthopaedic devices for the treatment of the younger active patient, and is highly regarded in financial circles as a classic example of the true British success story.
